NOTICE OF STUDY COMPLETION
West Trunk Sewer
Class Environmental Assessment

Notice of Study Completation The Study

The Region of Peel has retained GENIVAR Ontario Inc. to undertake a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for the proposed construction of the West Trunk Sewer. The Region’s Water and Wastewater Master Plan (1999) and 2002 Addendum identified the need to expand the West Trunk sanitary sewer system to meet the wastewater servicing for the population growth within the Region of Peel. A comprehensive environmentally sound planning process that incorporates public consultation and involves a wide variety of stakeholders was implemented. The Study identified Erin Mills Parkway as the Recommended Alignment as shown on this notice.

The Process

The study was conducted in accordance with Schedule “C” of the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000). The Class EA process includes public and government agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

The Environmental Study Report (ESR) documenting the process has been prepared for this study and submitted to the Ministry of the Environment (MOE).

A copy of the ESR has been placed on the public record for a 30-day review period (starting on April 14, 2009 and ending on May 13, 2009) in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment and will be available for review at the following locations:
