NOTICE OF STUDY COMPLETION
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
The Gore Road (regional Road 8) From Queen Street East to Highway 50

The Study

Map of study area

The Regional Municipality of Peel has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study to investigate opportunities for improvements to The Gore Road (Regional Road 8) from Queen Street East (Regional Road 107) to Highway 50 (Regional Road 50), in the City of Brampton. The Study Area is shown on the plan provided below.

The Gore Road, a north-south Regional Road is experiencing issues related to operational, design, and structural deficiencies.

The Process and Recommended Design Concept

This Study is being conducted in accordance with Schedule “C” of the Municipal Engineers Association (MEA) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000, as amended in 2007).  The Class EA process includes public and review agency consultation, an evaluation of alternatives, an assessment of the impacts of the proposed improvements, and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.

Key elements of the recommended design concept include:

  • Widening to four lanes – one additional lane in each direction with improvements to the horizontal and vertical alignments,
  • Sidewalk on the east side and a multi-use path on the west side,
  • No impacts to the Hilltop Gore cemetery, and
  • New bridge structure and additional culverts for Clarkway Drive tributary stormwater management.

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been prepared to document the planning and decision making process and by this notice is being placed on public record for review at the following locations for 30 calendar days beginning May 22, 2009 and ending June 22, 2009.
