NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATION CENTRE
Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study for the Intersections of Steeles Avenue (rr # 15) with Finch Avenue and Highway 50
The Study
The Regional Municipality of Peel is undertaking a Schedule ‘B’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment for intersection improvements on Steeles Avenue (Regional Road 15) at Finch Avenue and Highway 50. The approximate limits of the project study area are illustrated on the map.
Steeles Avenue is currently a 6-lane road west of Finch Avenue and 4-lane road east of the Finch Avenue intersection. Highway 50 and Finch Avenue are both 4-lanes at the intersection with Steeles Avenue. These intersections are currently experiencing issues related to operational deficiencies.
The Process
The study is being conducted in accordance with the approved requirements for a Schedule “B” project as described in the Municipal Engineers Association’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document (October 2000, as amended in 2007). The Class EA process will include public review and agency consultation, an evaluation of intersection improvement alternatives and design concepts and selection of the preferred design taking into account public and agency input.
