Peel-Highway 427 Extension Area Transportation Master Plan
The Peel-Highway 427 Extension Area Transportation Master Plan is a joint study between the Region of Peel, City of Brampton and Town of Caledon. The study carried out a comprehensive review of the future transportation network needs in Northeast Brampton and Southeast Caledon.
The Transportation Master Plan followed Phases 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process (October 2000 as amended in 2007), which is an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act. Master Plans are long-range plans that integrate infrastructure requirements for existing and future land uses with environmental assessment principles. While the Master Plan addresses need and justification at a broad level, more detailed studies related to some infrastructure components of the Master Plan are expected to be undertaken at a later date as part of subsequent EA studies
The preferred solution is a combination of improvements to existing roads/services and construction of a new road between Clarkway Drive and Coleraine Drive to connect Mayfield Road and Major Mackenzie Drive (exact alignment to be determined) to form a continuous east-west arterial road that leads to the future Highway 427 extension.
Two Public Information Centres were held in April and December 2008 to present the study findings and to receive feedback from the public and stakeholders. The preferred solution was presented to Caledon, Brampton and Peel Councils in September and October 2009, and was approved in principle pending the 30-day public review period that commences with issuance of this Notice. The Transportation Master Plan Report is available for review online at www.peel427tmp.ca. and at the Office of the Regional Clerk at Region of Peel headquarters at 10 Peel Centre Dr., 5th Fl., Suite A in Brampton, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
Any comments should be directed to the following project team members by Nov. 28, 2009.
Note: The map above shows the approximate limits of the project area; study area extends into York Region for consideration of transportation connections only
