Class Environmental Assessment Study
Highway 50 (Peel Regional Road 50, York Regional Road 24) from
Castlemore Road / Rutherford Road to Mayfield Road / Albion Vaughan Road and Mayfield Road (Peel Regional Road 14)
from Highway 50 to Coleraine Drive

The Study
The Regional Municipalities of Peel and York initiated a Class Environmental Assessment for Highway 50 from Castlemore Road/Rutherford Road to Mayfield Road/Albion Vaughan Road and Mayfield Road from Highway 50 to Coleraine Drive. The Peel-Highway 427 Extension Area Transportation Master Plan identified the future transportation needs in Northeast Brampton and Southeast Caledon.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate current and future transportation demands for the year 2031 on Highway 50 and Mayfield Road and to address operational and servicing deficiencies, standard intersection geometrics, road link capacity and storm drainage.

The Process
The study is being carried out in accordance with the Municipal Engineers Association guidelines for a Schedule ‘C’ Class Environmental Assessment for Municipal Road Projects. The study will review the need and justification for possible improvements to the existing corridor and alternatives, including evaluation of impacts on the natural and social environment. Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Study Report will be filed for public record.

Consultation
Public consultation is vital to this study. We want to ensure that interested stakeholders have an opportunity to get involved and provide input before any decisions are made on recommended design solution for roadway improvements. Public Information Centres will be held at various times during the study and to present the study findings to date.
