Fletcher’s Creek Trunk Sewer Capacity Class Environmental Assessment Between Nelson Street West and Steeles Avenue West

The Regional Municipality of Peel is undertaking a study to identify preferred solutions for meeting future capacity requirements in the Fletcher’s Creek Trunk Sewer.  The proposed study area is outlined in the map shown.  In the study area, the existing trunk sewer is located along Fletcher’s Creek between Nelson Street West and Steeles Avenue West within the City of Brampton.  It varies in diameter from 900-1200 mm with a total length of approximately 4 km.

The study is required to support the planned growth in northwest Brampton and future capacity deficiencies based on updated population and employment projections to the 2031 planning horizon.  

The study is being planned under Schedule C of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process in accordance with the Municipal Engineers’ Association document entitled Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, September 2007.  

Before any decisions are made on a preferred alternative for the proposed twinning, all residents, agencies and stakeholders will have an opportunity to attend two Public Information Centre (PIC) meetings.

It is now proposed to hold the second PIC meeting to provide project information to the public and to receive input as a part of the environmental assessment process.  The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to review the project background information including the results of sewer capacity assessment.  The study area proposed solutions and their evaluation, along with the preliminary preferred alternatives will be presented for public review and input. Representatives from the Region and its consultants will be present to answer any questions and receive inputs from the public.
