Notice of Public Meeting
and Study Commencement
Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel will hold statutory public open houses and a public meeting, pursuant to Sections 3(15), 5 and 6 of the Ontario Regulation 543/06; Sections 26(3), 17(15) and 17(16) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13, as amended, to discuss draft Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) 26. ROPA 26 contains proposed policies on incentives for intensification, human made hazards, petroleum resources, natural hazards, compatible active recreation and transportation policies and figures for the Regional Official Plan.
In support of the transportation component of the ROPA 26, the Region has commenced an update of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) to identify transportation challenges and mitigating solutions. In addition, the LRTP is implemented through an open public process at the public open houses in accordance with the requirements of Phase 1 and 2 of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) process (October 2000 as amended in 2007), which is an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act, so that the study results can serve as direct input to any subsequent EA studies that may be deemed appropriate.
The Region of Peel will be conducting three open houses for ROPA 26 and LRTP. The open houses will provide members of the public with an opportunity to ask questions of staff, learn about draft ROPA 26 and provide input. Information collected at the open houses will be considered by Regional staff in making recommendations to Regional Council on the amendment.
