NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
Retail Business Holidays Act Tourism Exemption By-law for Port Credit Business Improvement Area

TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel will hold a Public Meeting on June 14, 2012 to consider an application by the Port Credit Business Improvement Area for an area basis tourism exemption under the Retail Business Holidays Act for the Port Credit Business Improvement Area in Mississauga. The exemption would permit retail, food and other businesses in the Port Credit Business Improvement Area to remain open voluntarily between 10:00 am and 11:59 pm on New Years Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Port Credit Business Improvement Area
The lands that are subject to this application are between Maple Avenue South on the west, Seneca Avenue on the east, the Canadian National Railway on the north and Lake Ontario on the south. The Business Improvement Area stretches along a two kilometre stretch of Lakeshore Road East and West in Mississauga and includes approximately 400 businesses.

A copy of the proposed by-law (PDF 747kb, 14pgs), an explanation of the purpose and effect of the proposed by-law describing the retail business establishment to which the proposed by-law would apply and a key map showing the location of the lands to which the proposed by-law would apply are available from the Office of the Regional Clerk and also online at www.peelregion.ca.

Public Participation

Any person may attend this public meeting or make written or verbal representation in support of or in opposition to the proposed by-law. Any individual who wishes to appear before Regional Council may do so by notifying the Office of the Regional Clerk in writing or by completing the Request for Delegation Form, by June 7, 2012.

Please send the Request for Delegation Form to the Regional Clerk by e-mail at council@peelregion.ca or by fax at 905-791-1693. Once the above information is received in the Regional Clerk’s office, you will be contacted by Legislative Services staff to confirm your placement on an agenda. Any requests for delegation after June 7, 2012 are subject to Council approval.

Any person may appeal Regional Council’s Decision on the by-law to the Ontario Municipal Board.
