The Region of Peel has completed the Schedule "C" Municipal Class Environmental Assessment study for the Mississauga Road improvements from approximately 300 metres north of Bovaird Drive to Mayfield Road (study area is shown on the map).
The project team received input from interested stakeholders, the public and agencies, at two Public Information Centres. The team evaluated various road improvement alternatives and assessed the potential environmental effects of the proposed improvements and developed reasonable means to mitigate any adverse impacts.
Key Elements of the Recommended Design
The study recommends:
- the widening of Mississauga Road from 2 lanes to 6 lanes from Bovaird Drive to Sandalwood Parkway and from 2 lanes to 4 lanes from Sandalwood Parkway to Mayfield Road
- a rail overpass including a slip road (access under Mississauga Road) to provide access to the property on the west side of Mississauga Road
- a 42 metre clear span bridge over Huttonville Creek
- intersection improvements, transit facilities, a sidewalk and multi-use trail
