Interruption of Postal Services

During the current interruption to Canada Post mail service, the Region is ensuring cheques and payments for its various programs and services are being made available to residents and businesses.

Details about the programs and services affected appear below. Updates will continue to be provided so please check back often.

1. How do I pick up my Ontario Works cheque?
Even though Canada Post is starting back to work, if your cheque is usually received by mail, you will be able to pick up your cheque starting Monday June 27 at your local office. The hours to pick up cheques are:

Monday June 27 - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Tuesday June 28 - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Wednesday June 29 - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Thursday June 30 - 9:00am - 4:30pm
Monday July 4 - 9:00am - 7:00pm
Friday July 1: Region offices CLOSED for Canada Day
Monday July 4 - 9:00am - 7:00pm

Please note: In order to pick up a cheque, you will need to show or provide ID

Ontario Works - Brampton Office

If your Ontario Works assistance is normally deposited into your bank account, you will receive your statement of assistance and drug card for July in the mail.

2. How do I report my monthly income to receive my Ontario Works assistance for July?

Ontario Works recipients can provide their income information via telephone, fax, email or by dropping off a completed Income Reporting Statement at their local office.

3. What do I do if I need medication or dental work in July?

If your Ontario Works assistance is normally deposited into your bank account, you may not receive your statement of assistance and drug card for July in the mail until the postal strike is over. Your drug card from May or June will continue to be honoured at any pharmacy and your statement of assistance can be used if you require dental work.

If you do not have a statement of assistance or drug card for May or June and require medication or dental work, please contact your Caseworker.

4. How do I make child care payments during the strike?
Parents and caregivers who do not have automatic withdrawal for their child care services can drop off a cheque in a sealed envelope addressed to Children’s Services Operations at their Learn.Play.Care. Child Care Centre.
Fees can also be paid at Region of Peel offices in Brampton at 10 Peel Centre Drive, Suite B, (Map) and Mississauga at 6715 Millcreek Drive, Unit 1, (Map) where 24-hour drop-off boxes are also available. Call 905-791-1585.

5. If I regularly pay my Peel Living rent by mail, how do I pay during the strike?
Residents of Peel Living buildings who normally send their rent by mail have a range of options to ensure their payments are not interrupted:

  • online banking
  • telephone banking
  • payment at ATM machines
  • dropping off their rent cheque in a sealed envelope addressed to Peel Living at their superintendent’s office
  • dropping off their rent cheque at the Region’s main office at 10 Peel Centre Dr., in Brampton. Map

6. Will I receive my water bills during the strike?
Yes. Water bills will be hand-delivered to Peel households. Please check in and around your front door area.

7. How do I pay my water bill during the strike?
Preauthorized payment and electronic billing services will continue. If you do not use these options, payments may be made:

  • at any Chartered Bank
  • by telebanking or Internet banking
  • in person at:
    • Region of Peel:
      • 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, Map
      • 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga, Map
    • City of Mississauga - 300 City Centre Dr., Map
    • City of Brampton - 2 Wellington St. West, Map

      (cheque only in sealed envelope with stub)

8. How late will Region of Peel offices remain open for me to drop off my payment?
The Region of Peel’s Access Peel desk is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. However, payments can be made at any time outside of the regular office hours by dropping off payments in drop-off boxes located at 10 Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton (Map)

9. I am a vendor - how can I pick up my payment cheque during the strike?
Vendors can pick up their payment cheques at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, (Map) or arrange for Electronic Funding Transfer through Accounts Payable or directly through their clients, and are encouraged to forward invoices via e-mail.

10. How can I submit my Parent Notification Form for the CINOT program?
Parents will be required to drop off signed Parent Notification Forms for the Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) program at any of the following locations:

  • Fairview Clinic (325 Central Parkway, Unit 21, Mississauga) Map
  • Brampton East Clinic (150 Central Park Dr., Unit 302, 3rd Floor, Brampton) Map

11. How can I pick up my Dental Claim Form for the CINOT program?
Parents are encouraged to contact the Customer Contact Centre at 905-799-7700 to check if their Dental Claim Forms are ready for pick up. Upon confirmation, parents can pick up their child’s dental claim forms at 7120 Hurontario St. on Tuesdays and Thursdays during business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Child’s Ontario Health Card and photo ID are required. 12. Where should I pick up/drop off my Dental Claim Form/Financial Aid Forms for the Seniors Dental program?
Seniors who are applying to the Seniors’ Dental Program must pick up and drop off Financial Aid Forms at 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga. Claim Forms for this program must also be picked up at 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga. Map

13. I am a dental service provider - how can I pick up my payment cheque during the strike?
To facilitate treatment for clients, pre-determination Forms and Dental Claim Forms will be faxed directly to dental provider offices as requested. Providers are advised that payments for treatment may be delayed during the strike period. Dental providers can pick up their payment cheques at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton (Map) or arrange for Electronic Funding Transfer at Accounts Payable

14. How can I pick up my child’s Healthy Smiles Ontario client cards?
Parents whose children are registered in the Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO) program must pick up their child’s HSO client cards at 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga. The child’s valid Ontario Health Card and photo ID are required. Map

15. I usually send a cheque/money order to fund my TransHelp account or purchase Taxi Scrip. What are my options during the strike?

 There are 3 locations where you can drop off a cheque/money order

  • TransHelp office at 3190 Mavis Rd. in Mississauga between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (there is also a secure drop box at the front door) Map
  • Access Peel location in Brampton at 10 Peel Centre Dr. Map
  • Access Peel location in Mississauga  7120 Hurontario St. (North of Derry Rd.) Map

If you are not able to arrange for cheque/money order drop off, you also have the option of secure credit card payments at TransHelp. To arrange this payment option you must first register your credit card information by contacting our Customer Contact Centre at 905-791-1015 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Registered TransHelp clients who usually mail cheques/money orders to fund their TransHelp account can avoid delays by using a credit card to make account payments.

This is a fast, convenient and secure process that ensures deposits to client TransHelp accounts within 24-48 business hours. Please contact 905-791-1015 and speak with a customer service representative to confidentially register your credit card in order to use the online link to Register.

16. How do I return my completed ‘Application for Accessible Transportation’ form during the strike?

There are three options:

  • The form can be dropped off at the TransHelp office at 3190 Mavis Rd. in Mississauga between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. (there is a secure drop box at the front door)
  • The completed form can be faxed to the TransHelp office at 905-277-5864
  • The completed form may be scanned and the electronic file may be sent via e-mail to transhelp@peelregion.ca
