What is Peel Youth Village?

Peel Youth Village (PYV) is a residence for youth who do not have permanent housing.

PYV provides safe, stable, transitional housing and support services for youth, 16 to 30 years of age. As many as 48 youth occupy PYV with support from staff who are onsite 24-7, 365 days a year.

PYV offers recreation and leisure activities to residents and the surrounding Acorn community, and as well as access to Region of Peel health and employment services.

Peel Youth Village is located at 99 Acorn Place in Mississauga,
at Hurontario and Eglinton Ave. in the Acorn Community.

The Origin of Peel Youth Village

The 1999 Report from the Peel Regional Task Force on Homelessness identified growing numbers of homeless youth and need for supports, and recommended:

• Creating a strategy to reduce homelessness in Peel's youth
• Establishing links between agencies assisting homeless youths that could lead to development of a network
• Developing homelessness prevention services for youth, including housing
