Career Exploration
Course Objective: You will gain a better understanding of careers that are available to you.
Course Duration: 3 hours.
Course Description: Unsure of what career to pursue? Then this seminar is for you! A representative from the Career Coach Team will teach you how to research career options and compare the skills and qualifications needed for those career options with those you now have to offer. Career Exploration test tools will be available to participants. There will also be a one-on-one follow up appointment with the Career Coach representative at the end of the seminar.
Who Should Attend: Job seekers and soon-to-be job seekers who are not sure what field of work is right for them.

Course Objectives: You will learn about the techniques used by successful job seekers such as networking, informational interviewing, tapping into the “hidden” job market and other job search resources.
Course Duration: 3 hours

Email Tutorial
Course Objectives: You will learn how e-mail can improve your job search and how to use e-mail to apply for jobs. Participants will set up their own free e-mail address.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Course Description: Are you using e-mail in your job search? Learn how to: set up a web based e-mail account, send e-mails, and attach documents such as your resume to an e-mail. You must have basic computer skills and know how to use a mouse in order to take part in this seminar.

Course Objectives: You will learn about the importance of the internet to your job search, and tips on how to use the internet to narrow your search for work.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Course Description: Today the internet plays a very important role in job searching. Learn how to use the internet to find labour market information, research companies and find job postings. You must have basic computer skills and know how to use a mouse to take part in this seminar.

Job Search Workshop for Newcomers (Parts I,II,III & IV)
Course Objective: As a landed immigrant or convention refugee, you will learn how to job search in the Canadian labour market.
Course Duration: Each seminar is 3 hours long, and offered over two consecutive days. Part I and Part III are offered in the morning of day one and day two, Part II and Part IV are offered in the afternoon of day one and day two. There is a one hour lunch break between parts on both days. You must attend Part I and Part II (on day one) before you can attend Part III and IV (on day two).
Course Description: Have you been in Canada for less than 5 years? Are you a landed immigrant or a convention refugee? This 2 day seminar, presented by a representative from the Catholic Cross Cultural Services, will give you insight into the Canadian labour market and Canadian labour laws. You will receive assistance in effective job search strategies and interview skills.
Who Should Attend: Landed immigrants and convention refugees who have been in Canada for less than 5 years.

Networking Club
Course Objectives: You will hear guest presenters speak on different employment related topics, meet others who are also looking for work, and learn how to network.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Course Description: Did you know that networking is an excellent way to learn about job opportunities? The Networking Club is an informal gathering of people from all walks of life who come together in a social setting to share information. Guest presenters will share key information about various topics relating to employment. Through information sharing and getting to know others, you develop and/or improve social skills, make new friends and uncover the hidden job market along the way. You never know who you will meet at the Networking Club!

Cover Letters
Course Objectives: You will learn about the purpose and importance of a cover letter, key parts, and how to write one. You will have the opportunity to write sample cover letters with help from an Employment Services Worker.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Course Description: Are you using cover letters along with your resume? If not, know that a cover letter highlights your resume and provides you with the opportunity to market your skills to potential employers.
Who Should Attend: Job seekers who currently do not use a cover letter in their job search, or job seekers who are looking for tips to improve their cover letters.

Develop a Winning Resume
Course Objectives: You will learn about the parts of a resume, the different types of resumes, and develop a new resume for yourself.
Course Duration: 3 hours
Course Description: Do you have a resume? Is your resume up to date? Is your resume old and in need of a little improvement or perhaps a complete overhaul? Then this is the seminar for you! Find out about the style of resume that is most suitable for the type of job you are looking for and learn how to develop a resume that will get you noticed.
Who Should Attend: Job seekers who do not have a resume, or have an outdated one that needs to be redone.
Please Bring With You: A copy of your old resume in an electronic format (if available), a list of your previous employers including the dates that you worked for them and a basic job description.

Resume Critique Drop In
Course Objectives: You will have your resume reviewed one-on-one by an Employment Services Worker and receive tips and advice as to how you can improve your resume.
Course Duration: 15 minutes. Please drop-in to our office during the stated time for this seminar. Please note that resumes will be reviewed on a first-come first-served basis.
Course Description: Is your resume doing its job? Are employers calling you when you send them your resume? Have an Employment Services Worker review your resume and suggest some changes that will make your resume work for you.
Who Should Attend: Job seekers who have a current / up-to-date resume, and would like advice on how to improve it to get results.

The Successful Interview (Parts I & II)
Course Objectives: You will learn about: the purpose and parts of a job interview, key questions employers ask and the different types of interviews employers use. Part II allows you to practice your interview skills in a mock interview session and receive feedback.
Course Duration: Each part is 3 hours long. Part I is offered in the morning, Part II in the afternoon. There is a one hour lunch break between Part I and Part II. You must attend Part I before you can attend Part II.
Course Description: Haven’t had an interview in a while? Do you get nervous when you attend interviews? What are the dos and don’ts of an interview? Find out how to “WOW them” in a job interview by reviewing frequently asked questions and take part in a mock interview.
Who Should Attend: Job seekers who have not had a recent interview, or job seekers who get nervous during interviews, or wish to improve their interview skills.

Course Objectives: You will learn the key to keeping your job and getting along with your employer.
Course Duration: 3 hours.
Course Description: Congratulations, you have gotten the job! Do you know how to keep it and succeed? This workshop, geared towards employed persons, will assist you in developing the skills necessary to maintain employment. You will learn about the life skills necessary in today’s workplace and how to meet the expectations of today’s employers. You will leave the workshop with key tips and techniques that you identified with the help of an Employment Services Worker.
Who Should Attend: Employed persons and job seekers who are interested in developing the skills necessary to maintain employment; employed persons who change jobs frequently; employed persons / job seekers who have been laid off or fired from a previous job.

Course Objectives: This interactive seminar geared towards job seekers will discuss the hidden job market and introduce techniques to make your job search more effective.

Customer Service Seminar (CSR) Parts I & II
Course Objective: You will be introduced to the concepts of “good customer service”
Course Duration: Each part is 3 hours long. Part I is offered in the morning, Part II in the afternoon. There is a one hour lunch break between Part I and Part II. You must attend Part I before you can attend Part II.
Course Description: Do you know what employers are looking for when they ask for “strong customer service skills” in their job ads?
