Peel Paramedics Share Holiday Spirit

Toy Drive 2008

Paramedics Patrick Chatelain and Scott Caldwell prepare
to take donations to Interim Place (an emergency shelter
for Peel’s abused women and children)

Arriving in their own sleigh, two of our Peel Paramedics delivered an ambulance full of toys and food and a cheque for $1,200 to Interim Place (an emergency shelter for abused women and their children).

“This is the second year of our official food and toy drive and I’m proud, but not surprised by the generosity of our paramedics,” says Brad Bowie, Peel Regional Paramedic Services’ Public Education and Awareness officer.

Paramedics volunteered to sort through and gather all the donations collected from each of our 12 stations and delivered them to the families at Interim Place.
“As paramedics, we know too well how important it is to be there for our residents,” says Rob Schembri, Peel paramedic and president of the Peel Paramedic Association. “We hope that by sharing what we’ve collected, we might help to ease the struggle some may be facing – especially at this time of year.”

Through the partnership of the Peel Paramedic Association, Peel Paramedic Union and Peel Regional Paramedic Services, we had a very successful drive. Thanks to all our paramedics who donated and a special thank you to everyone who helped organize the drive.

Have a safe and happy holiday season!
