The
Oak Ridges Moraine- Proposals for the Protection and Management of a
Unique Landscape – May 2001 draft
On May 10, 2001, Peel
Regional Council released a Strategic Directions paper on the Oak
Ridges Moraine for public comment and input.
"The
Oak Ridges Moraine - Proposals for the Protection and Management of
a Unique Landscape, May 2001"
paper is a collaborative effort
by the Oak Ridges Moraine Partnership, which includes the Regions of
Durham, Peel and York, the Counties of Simcoe, Peterborough, Dufferin
and Northumberland, the City of Kawartha Lakes, the nine Conservation
Authorities having jurisdiction on the Moraine (also called the Alliance)
and three Province of Ontario Ministries (MMAH, MNR and MOE). A copy
of the report of the Commissioner of Planning dated April 16, 2001 is
also available for downloading
in pdf format.
To discuss these proposals,
public information meetings are scheduled in each of the three Regions.
This process will assist the Regions in formulating a submission to
the recently announced Provincial initiative on the Oak Ridges Moraine.
