What is PAAWG?
The
Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel established
the Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group
(PAAWG) early in 1998, creating a closer
link between the agricultural community and
Regional government.
PAAWG serves as a voluntary advisory group promoting healthy, rural communities that offer living,
working and recreational opportunities while
respecting the natural land resources. It also assists the Region in its efforts to protect agricultural lands as a natural
resource.
A
subcommittee of PAAWG will act as the approval
authority for funding applications under the Peel Rural Water Quality Program (PRWQP).
The Working Group's members represent the agricultural
community in Peel Region and are familiar with
the agricultural best management practices eligible
for grant assistance under the Program.
Through PAAWG, the Region also hopes to support Peel's farmers and agricultural organizations
as valuable contributors to both the community
and economy of Peel.
