Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group (PAAWG)

What is the purpose of PAAWG?

The purpose of the Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group is to:

solicit issues and concerns of Peel's farming industry, agricultural organizations, community groups and rural citizenry and make appropriate recommendations
assist Regional Council in implementing Regional and area municipal official plan policies and programs and provincial legislation related to farm practices
provide a forum for the exchange of information on agricultural and rural issues and initiatives and to advise on potential concerns
encourage public awareness and education of agricultural and rural issues
review studies, plans and proposals, as required by Provincial legislation, or as may be referred by Regional Council or staff and provide comments on agricultural and rural impacts
provide comments and recommendations on alternative solutions, approaches, plans or studies dealing with agricultural and rural issues which are within the responsibilities and financial capabilities of the Region of Peel, such as the GTA Agricultural Action Plan, as well as on legislation, programs and funding from Provincial departments and other agencies that affect agricultural and rural issues in Peel
act as the approval authority for funding applications under the Peel Rural Water Quality Program.
