Working hours
- Trisan Construction working hours will continue to be from 7a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday with occasional work on Saturdays between 9am and 5 pm. Works will not take place during statutory holidays.
Traffic and parking control
- There will be traffic restrictions in the construction area.
- Harold Street will be closed to non-local through traffic
- The traffic flow along Harold Street will be restricted to one lane. There will be two flag persons directing traffic during the traffic restriction. Two lanes will be provided after work hours and on weekends.
Driveway access
- We plan construction works to maintain access to private properties at all times.
- There is a possibility that due to the nature of the construction work along Harold Street, access to some of residents’ driveways may not be possible.
- We may need to block your driveway for a short time. We will contact you before we do this to arrange for the best time and for alternate access, if needed.
- If your driveway is blocked, you may choose to park on a side street close to your property for a short time or overnight.
- The residents whose driveways will become inaccessible will be able to park on the following side streets:
- Stanley Court
- Fletcher Drive
- Roseville Drive
- Curtis Drive
- The City of Brampton granted an exemption for on-street parking between 2am and 6am and parking that exceeds 3 hours for the period of the trunk sewer construction on Harold Street.
- The City of Brampton parking exemption only applies for the two above mentioned reasons and will not prevent you from getting a ticket for any other violations such as obstructing fire hydrants, parking in a no parking zone or any other normal safety violations.
Trimming trees
- If tree branches within the right-of-way interfere with construction, the contractor will have the trees pruned before equipment enters the drip line of the tree.
- If tree branches on private property interfere with construction, they will be pruned back to the nearest suitable trunk, crotch or branch.
- The contractor will ask you for permission before cutting any branches. If you do not allow the contractor onto your property to trim the branches, the branches will have to be cut vertically at the property line.
Interrupting your water and sewer services
- We will let you know 48 hours (2 days) before we need to shut off your water. Occasionally, we may have to reduce this notice to 24 hours.
- If we have to shut off your water because of an emergency, we will do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
- While the new sewer connection from your home to the new sewer main is made, the contractor may request any occupants in your home at the time not to run any water or flush toilets for a very short period of time until connection is completed.
Vibrations
- The construction work may generate slight vibrations which may be felt in your home. As a precaution, you may consider removing or securing small, light or fragile objects from shelving and walls during the construction period.
Repairing your driveway
- During the upcoming sanitary trunk sewer construction most of the street curbs will be removed.
- New curbs will be constructed during the final road restoration.
- New curbs will be constructed to match the originally approved developer plans or as it has been modified by a resident if the modification has been approved by the City of Brampton.
Note that the City of Brampton Zoning By-Law regulates the width of driveways. A home owner should not have his/her driveway widened before inquiring about the permitted width.
