How to use the Regional Overview Map

This screen allows you to narrow your search by municipal ward.

  1. Click on map image.
  2. Move your mouse over the map and select the desired ward.
  3. This will move you to the selected ward overview map.

Or you can Search By Ward/Councillor Name

  1. Select a municipality name in the drop down box on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Select a ward number/councillor name from the drop down box which appears below the municipality selection drop down box.
  3. This will move you to the selected ward overview map.

Or you can Search By Intersection

  1. Select a municipality name in the drop down box on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Select the first letter of the street you are looking for in the drop down box which appears below the ward number/councillor name search drop down box. To search for highways, use the first number of the highway number for your selection. For example Highway 401, you would select ‘4’. For Highway 50, you would select ‘5’ etc.
  3. Select the name of the street you are looking for in the drop down box.
  4. Select the name of the intersecting street in the drop down box.
  5. Click on Find to go to the intersection. The selected intersection will be highlighted by a purple star. You can remove the star from the map by clicking on the star.

Note: use the back button in your top toolbar to return to the previous screen at any time.

How to use the Ward Overview Map

This screen allows you to see all the construction projects in the ward. Projects are divided into five categories seen in the right side information pane.

To move to the Project Detail map:

  1. Move your mouse over the project you would like to view, then
  2. Click to select the project.

How to use the Project Detail Map

This screen shows you the full project area.

  • Place the mouse over the desired property or street to view street names and address numbers.

To open the project description page in a new window:

  • Move your mouse over the project line. If a box showing Click for Description appears, you may select it for more information.
  • This box will only show on projects currently under construction, not for projects which are proposed or completed.

How to use the Information Pane on the Ward Overview Map and the Project Detail Map

Construction projects are divided into five categories. Status of project is shown by line type.

  • Turn the different construction categories on and off by selecting and deselecting the check box next to the construction type.
  • Pan by selecting the pan button, left click on the map image and move your mouse in the desired direction. Wait for the screen to refresh. This feature is only available after the map has been zoomed in. Panning may also be done by holding down the Alt key and moving the cursor around the map area.
  • Zoom in by using the + button. Zoom out by using the – button. The blue circle on the line will indicate what level you are zoomed to.
  • Zooming in may also be done by holding down the Ctrl key and drawing a box around the desired area on the map or right click on the map area and select Zoom In. To zoom out, right click on the map area and select Zoom Out. To return to the original view, right click on the map area and select Original View.
  • Print pages by selecting the print button. For best results, change the page orientation to landscape. (Usually found under printer preferences)

"Project Status" Terminology on the Information Pane

  • Approved Projects: Capital project approved by Regional Council and currently in the Environmental Assessment or Design phase.
  • Under Construction: Capital project currently under construction.
  • Completed: Capital project with construction completed. Currently in Maintenance phase.

Only current capital projects that have been approved by Regional Council will appear on this Website. If a project has been cancelled or closed, the project will no longer appear on the site.
