Construction in Peel: Mississauga

Upcoming Investigational Night Work
Lakeshore Road West
Front Street Station Wastewater Diversion Project

The Region of Peel has been undertaking an environmental assessment to construct a large diameter trunk sanitary sewer along Lakeshore Road West between Credit River and Jack Darling Memorial Park, as shown in the sketch below:

Wastewater comes from flushing toilets, having a shower or washing dishes. The sanitary sewer pipe takes wastewater from homes and businesses to the treatment plant.

Investigational work has started which includes drilling boreholes (small holes in the ground) and installing monitoring wells along the entire alignment. It also involves completing a non-intrusive survey to help define the bedrock (underground) surface between the boreholes and take pictures of potential bedrock valleys that may be found during construction of the sanitary trunk sewer. This work will be completed at night when area noise is minimal. The investigative noise will also be minimal and will be moving constantly and not likely be repeated at one location. The sanitary sewer, when constructed, will be in a tunnel with a marginal impact to traffic.

Night Lane Closures

This work will require closing one or two lanes and each of the intersections in phases along the three kilometre sanitary sewer alignment for one to two hours. Traffic restrictions will be in place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with the work expected to take place between December 3 and December 15. A noise bylaw exemption for this night work has been allowed by the City of Mississauga.

The Region encourages you to notify the project manager below if you have any comments or concerns.
