There are 1578 kilometres of arterial roads in Peel. The Region is involved in future long range transportation planning, budgeting, design, construction, operations and maintenance of the Regional road network in Peel.
The Region is focused on ensuring the existing and future road network meets the changing needs of all users in a safe, efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
Winter Maintenance
The Region maintains around-the-clock enhanced services through 24 hour road patrol, proactive anti-icing strategies, immediate response to winter events, and optimized route cycle times, as well as salt management best practices.
Road Construction
The Region is involved in the design and construction of various projects on regional roads in an effort to support the expansion and improvement of Peel’s road network.
Traffic
The Region is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic on roadways under the jurisdiction of the Region of Peel. This includes:
- Red Light Cameras - introduced to reduce the number of motorists running red lights.

Accessible Transportation
We administer TransHelp and other accessible transportation programs and service delivery for the residents of Peel who are physically unable to board public transit vehicles due to functional mobility problems.
