Environmental Assessment

Mavis Road (Regional Road 18) from Steeles Avenue to Highway 407

Mavis Road from Steeles Avenue to Highway 407 is a four lane road. The Regions’ Long Range Transportation Plan (September 2005) identified the need to widen this section of Mavis Road.

The Regional Municipality of Peel has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the need and feasibility of a widening and improvements on Mavis Road to address needs related to:

  • Future planned growth
  • Operational and Service deficiencies
  • Road and Intersection Geometrics
  • Road link capacity
  • Strom drainage deficiencies

The Study will also review opportunities to facilitate public transit and pedestrian movements.

This study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule 'C' undertaking as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in 2007). The Class Environmental Assessment planning process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the effects of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.
