Environmental Assessment

Mississauga Road (Regional Road 1) from Bovaird Drive to Mayfield Road

Mississauga Road from Bovaird Drive to Mayfield Road is a two lane rural road. The Regions’ Long Range Transportation Plan (September 2005) identified the need to widen this section of Mississauga Road.

The Regional Municipality of Peel has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the need and feasibility of a widening and improvements on Mississauga Road to address short and long term needs related to:

  • Future planned growth
  • Operational and Service deficiencies
  • Road and Intersection Geometrics
  • Road link capacity
  • Storm drainage deficiencies
  • Gradeseparation at CNR crossing

The study will also review opportunities to facilitate public transit, pedestrian and bicycle movements.

This study is being carried out in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule ‘C’ undertaking as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in 2007).  The Class Environmental Assessment planning process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the effects of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts.
