The following information and correspondence is required a minimum of six (6) weeks prior to the proposed event when a full road closure is required and four (4) weeks when a partial road closure is required. This timeline is necessary to ensure both the safety of the participants and residents of the Region of Peel.

The following steps are required when applying for a Special Event Road Closure Permit.
- A letter of intent that provides the following:
- Company/resident name and complete address
- Contact person if different from above
- Telephone, cell and fax numbers
- Proposed location, street names and outer limits of event boundary
- Proposed date and time (rain date if applicable)
- Number of participants and vehicles
- Brief description of event along with previous years’ history if available
- Detailed route map showing both start and end location
- Application fee of $266.77 ($533.54 if full road closure is required). Payment methods accepted include Visa, MasterCard or a cheque made payable to the Region of Peel.
- An insurance certificate (PDF 273KB, 1 page) naming the Region of Peel and the relevant Area Municipality as additional insured for an amount no less than $2 million. Insurance certificate must be provided to the Region of Peel a minimum of one (1) week prior to the event.
- A Full Road Closure Application (PDF 323KB, 1 page) must be completed (if applicable).
Once the Region of Peel has received the above items, an Approval Letter with a permit number and Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement will be sent to the applicant. The applicant must complete and return the Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement one (1) week prior to the event and all conditions in the Approval Letter must be complied with.
If the scheduled event is cancelled, the applicant will be responsible for notifying the Region of Peel.
