Christmas trees

Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga

  • Place your Christmas tree at the curb on your scheduled collection day during the week of Jan. 7, 2013
  • Christmas trees must not exceed 3 m (10 ft.) in length
  • Remove all tinsel, ornaments, plastic bags and tree stands
  • Christmas trees buried in snowbanks will not be collected

Furniture and large items

  • Reusable items in good condition may be dropped off at any Community Recycling Centre, free of charge. Visit peelregion.ca/waste for more information or see page 25.
  • The Region collects old furniture and other large items every week – no need to wait for exemption periods
  • Place furniture and large items at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day for pick-up (no appointment required)

Specialty items accepted for curbside collection

Toilet
  • barbecues (propane tanks must be removed and taken to a Community Recycling Centre)
  • carpets [tied in bundles no larger than 1.2 m (4 ft.) in length and 76 cm (2.5 ft.) in width]
  • furniture (e.g. sofas, tables, chairs and mattresses)
  • small appliances (e.g. microwaves)
  • toilets (detach the tank from the bowl as shown)
  • fibreglass bathtubs

Large metal appliances and metal fixtures

  • These white goods are collected from the curb by appointment only. Residents are required to pay $15 for the first item and $10 for each additional item collected on the same day. Call the Region at 905-791-9499 or visit peelregion.ca/waste to schedule an appointment for pick-up*
  • Payment methods: credit card over the phone; debit card, cash or cheque at Access Peel, located at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Suite B in Brampton and 7120 Hurontario St. in Mississauga; online at peelregion.ca/waste. Cheques payable to the Region of Peel are also accepted at Brampton and Mississauga City Halls and at the Caledon Town Hall
  • For safety reasons, please remove all appliance doors and place them beside the appliance for collection. Appliances must be empty of all food and waste
  • Place items out for collection before 7 a.m. on your scheduled day but not before 7 p.m. the night before
  • Large metal appliances and fixtures can be dropped off, free of charge, at Peel’s Community Recycling Centres. See page 25 for locations

* To cancel an appointment, call 905-791-9499 before 2 p.m. on the business day prior to your scheduled collection. Allow a minimum of seven days for pick-up.

  • empty heating oil tanks (cut in half)

  • metal shower enclosures
  • pool heaters, pumps and metal filters
  • refrigerators
  • stoves
  • washing machines and dryers
  • water coolers
