Alternative Cleaning Products

Commercial products used in and around the home may contain toxic ingredients that can be harmful to human health and the environment. Instead of purchasing and using commercial products, you can make your own. Homemade alternatives are less damaging to the environment and can be prepared with fewer hazardous ingredients, thus reducing some of the health and environmental risks that may occur from some commercial products.

Homemade pesticides and herbicides, as well as homemade cleaning products are easy to prepare and use. Many of the ingredients can already be found in the home or garden. Prepare alternative products in small batches to avoid deterioration (they contain no preservatives) or premature disposal (these products are safe to pour down kitchen drains or toilets).

Visit Green Cleaning for more information on how to make a switch to greener cleaning in your home.
