Tap WaterThe Region of Peel takes pride in ensuring that its residents are provided with clean and safe water, free of any pollutants that could jeopardize their health.

The Region of Peel treats its water to prevent contamination and regularly tests its quality. Tests are performed on thousands of water samples collected throughout the year, including testing for microbiological parameters, inorganic and organic parameters, operational checks as well as any additional testing carried out in accordance with the regulatory requirement, all of which proves the Region of Peel municipal water is of excellent quality.

E ColiBacteriological samples are sent to an external lab and are tested for E. Coli, Total Coliform and a broad group of bacteria. The results are sent electronically to the Region of Peel and are analysed by the Water Quality Analyst. If the results fail to meet the regulatory requirements contained in the Ontario Drinking-Water Quality Standards Regulation (169-03), found under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the necessary corrective action is initiated in accordance with the drinking water legislation.

Drinking Water Quality Management System

Peel has developed and implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) for all its drinking water systems in accordance with the MOE mandated Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS).
