24 Hour Sanitary Sewer Back Up Services
The Region of Peel offers emergency sanitary sewer blockage service to Peel households, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Most backups occur when the sewer pipe that runs from your home to the Region’s main sanitary sewer pipe is blocked with items such as roots or grease. A blockage in the sewer pipe may cause wastewater to back up into your basement from the floor drain.

To help reduce sanitary sewer blockages and prevent backups from occurring in your home, avoid using drains or toilets to dispose of grease, oils, diapers, rags or other material that can harden or settle within the sewer pipes.
Emergency Sewer Back-Up Charge
A flat fee of $330 is charged during the week from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and $440 on weekends and after hours is charged for all service calls where the problem area is located on private residential property.
