Water Distribution

The water distribution system carries water from the treatment facility to your tap. There are 12 reservoirs, four elevated tanks and two stand pipes in the South Peel Drinking Water System.

The South Peel Drinking Water System services residents in the cities of Brampton and Mississauga and parts of the Town of Caledon. The source of the drinking water is Lake Ontario.

The Region of Peel operates and maintains
(as of Dec. 31, 2011):

  • 4,196 kilometres of watermain
  • 42,070 mainline valves
  • 25,465 fire hydrants
  • 304,219 residential and commercial water service connections

Some of the maintenance activities we perform are:

  • watermain break repairs
  • hydrant preventative maintenance and repairs
  • valve preventative maintenance and repairs
  • water service line installation/replacement/repairs
  • customer service calls (water quality/quantity, turn off/on, pressure testing, etc.)
