Peel Paramedics and students from Cardinal Leger Catholic School will provided free hands-only CPR and public access defibrillator demonstrations to shoppers in Bramalea City Centre in support of Heart Month, which is celebrated in February nationwide.
Interested shoppers can take part in the demonstrations happening every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 5 at Bay Court in Bramalea City Centre (25 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton)
Hands-only CPR is a widely accepted alternative if you don’t have full CPR certification, which includes mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If someone around you is unconscious and isn’t breathing, call 9-1-1. Using your hands, push hard and fast in the centre of the chest 100 times per minute until paramedics arrive. For more information about hands-only CPR or to watch a demonstration online, visit peelregion.ca/paramedics. For more information about CPR certification, contact The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, The Canadian Red Cross, the Peel Paramedic Association or St. John Ambulance. Please note that course length and fees may vary.
