What Do I Do With...?

Special Services

Poison Ivy/Garlic Mustard/Purple Loosestrife/Japanese Knotweed and other invasive plant species:
If you suspect you have invasive species of plants or poison ivy or poison oak growing on your property hire a professional lawn care company to remove the plant. If you decide to remove the plant yourself, wear long sleeves and gloves. Make sure to remove the roots and runners from the ground to stop the spread. Put all of the plant material - including the roots and runners - in a garbage bag, seal the bag, put it into another regular garbage bag, then put it in the garbage. Be sure to wash all clothing and tools immediately after you finish handling the plant. For more information please see the following website: Ontario Weeds Database
