What Do I Do With...?
The Asian Long-horned beetle (ALHB) attacks and kills healthy deciduous trees and has been found in Malton, Mississauga. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has regulated a quarantine within the following regional area and there are now restrictions on the movement of any nursery stock, trees, logs, lumber, wood, wood chips and bark chips from certain deciduous trees and firewood of all species. The movement of these items out of the regulated area is prohibited. Residents and tree contractors within this quarantined area can drop-off tree debris free of charge at 2699 Drew Road (north of Derry East and east of Torbram Road) on the following days and times: Tuesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. See Mississauga's Pest Management for more information. Any person who fails to adhere to the movement restrictions may be subject to a fine, prosecution or both. For more information visit CFIA
