Task Force: Early Learning and Child Care
On Sept. 13, 2012, Peel Regional Council approved a recommendation from the Early Learning and Child Care in Peel Task Force that included 21 child care system-related enhancements in the areas of service delivery and planning, special needs, quality, advocacy and funding. To support these enhancements, they approved a phased withdrawal of direct delivery of child care through the Region of Peel's Learn.Play.Care. Centres by September 2014. This approach will allow most children to naturally age out from the Region's centres into school-based programs, including full-day kindergarten. More information about the about the decision can be found in the linked news release. The related report and presentation can be found on this page.
The Task Force will continue to meet and guide staff through this transition.
