Accomplishments

Some of our Accomplishments

  • Providing a co-ordinated and integrated response to the complex challenges of homelessness through Interdepartmental collaboration and cooperation 
  • Partnership initiatives, including outreach strategies and programs that stabilize individuals and families such as rent supplement and eviction prevention.
  • Proven success in working with community partners 
  • Participation in federal-provincial affordable housing programs to create 465 new housing units 
  • Completion of two transitional housing programs: Peel Youth Village, for youth and  Angela’s Place, for families 
  • Opening of Millbrook Place, combined seniors’ housing and “modest income”  efficiency apartments 
  • Development of a Human Resources strategy to support front line staff 
  • Establishing an emergency hostel community advisory group 
  • Outreach program enhancements and expansion, including integration of Needle Exchange Services in Peel’s Outreach program 
  • Development of monitoring tools to measure successes and identify root causes of homelessness 
  • Inclusion of human services policies in the Regional Official Plan 
  • Peel Family Shelter – implementation and program enhancements 
  • Provision of Children’s programs at Peel Family Shelter and Interim Place, and Angela’s Place.
  • Delivery of health education to staff at shelters 
  • Technology enhancements to enable access to critical information
