Mandate

The Region of Peel will eliminate homelessness through a comprehensive and integrated approach to planning and delivery of services that enhance individual, family and community capacity.

Objectives

  • Build social awareness and ownership of homelessness and
    its root causes
  • Close gaps in the continuum of supports and services
  • Establish an appropriate resource allocation plan for homelessness
  • Strengthen the integration of the planning and delivery of homelessness services in the Region
  • Develop a human resource strategy that recognizes the value of staff and volunteers

Strategy

In Peel, we are working together, across every department, to eliminate homelessness and the conditions of poverty that cause homelessness. We are also working with community partners and other levels of government to focus on services and programs that help individuals and families gain the skills, abilities and resources they need to be independent and participate fully in our community.

By cooperating and collaborating, the Region and its community partners are putting resources to their best use. This approach helps to ensure that federal, provincial, municipal, and charitable funds, as well as volunteer efforts are making a difference in Peel.
