National Public Works Week
Let's show our appreciation for Public Works employees.
National Public Works Week is from May 15 to May 20.
This yearly observance recognizes Public Works employees hard work and the impactful services they provide.
Public Works operates at the heart of Peels community, continually planning, building, managing, and operating to support residents and businesses.
In 2021, Peel Region Public Work employees:
- Built 6.4 km of active transportation infrastructure, such as bike trails, crosswalks, and sidewalks.
- Managed and supported waste collection from close to 85,000 homes each day and more than 342,000 homes each week.
- Welcomed close to 525,000 visitors to Peels Community Recycling Centers.
- Took hundreds of wastewater samples to predict COVID-19 trends in Peel.
