Youth and student employment
The summer job application deadline is January 31, 2021
We offer summer employment to students attending college, university, technical or vocational trade schools.
Through our Summer Student Program, you’ll:
- Earn income over the summer months.
- Gain valuable experience.
- Make new connections.
- Work within an engaging and professional environment all while contributing to our community.
The summer work term runs from May to the end of August. Students are paid a competitive hourly rate every other week, plus vacation pay.
Qualifications and requirements
To qualify for the Peel Summer Student Program, you must be a full-time student enrolled in post-secondary program or entering full-time post-secondary studies in September 2021 and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
You may also need to meet other role-specific requirements such as:
- A valid "G" Driver's licence in good standing
- Administrative experience
- Labour experience
- CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved work boots
- TB Testing and/or Vulnerable Sector Screening
Summer Student Program positions
General administrative positions
In a general administrative role, your responsibilities may include:
- customer service
- data entry
- financial or project co-ordination
Outdoor labourer positions
As an outdoor labourer, you role might include:
- customer service
- general cleaning and maintenance
Some specialized positions in civil engineering, health, social services, and marketing and communications may also be available.

Digital & Information Services (D&IS) Department
D&IS employees partner with program areas to effectively deliver services to best meet the needs of the residents and businesses of Peel. Employment opportunities may be available within our Information Management and Community Connection teams.
Corporate Services Department
Corporate Services provides support services to other regional departments and a few direct services to the public. Employment opportunities may be available within Human Resources, Marketing, Digital Marketing & Communications, Real Property Asset Management, Legal Services, and Culture & Inclusion.
Supporting the achievement of organizational outcomes, mentoring, and shared projects are just a few of the exciting initiatives Finance has in store. Finance also offers opportunities in the Office of the CFO, Treasury Services, Asset Management, Procurement, Business & Financial Planning, and Corporate Finance.
Health Services Department
As a summer student in the Health Services Department, you’ll enjoy supporting various divisions such as Family Health, Paramedic Services, Long Term Care, or Public Health.
Human Services Department
Work in the Human Services Department will support divisions such as Early Years and Child Care, Housing Operations, Integrated Business Support, and Community Access.
Public Works Department
Public Works includes the Water, Transportation, Waste Management, Operations Support, and Fleet Services divisions. A portion of our opportunities in this department may include working outdoors.
