Reduced child care fees

Families with children 4 years and under attending licensed child care centres in Peel will continue to receive a reduced fee until April 30, 2020.

More details

You will not receive a reduced fee if your child is old enough to attend kindergarten. This means that only children born after January 1, 2016 will receive a reduced fee.

This reduced fee is only available through licensed child care centres that have an agreement with the Region of Peel.

This funding will no longer be available past April 30, 2020.

Notice for families with children attending licensed home child care

In 2020, the reduced child care fee for licensed home child care is $6 a day for full-day and part-day care. This is offered through the Region of Peel’s Fee Reduction Operating Grant.

For January 2020 only, licensed home child care agencies that have an agreement with the Region of Peel, have the option to either charge families the reduced rate of $6 a day or issue a one-time reimbursement of the fees to full-fee paying parents.

As of February 2020, all licensed home child care agencies that have an agreement with the Region will be required to update their market rate schedule to reflect the reduced fee of $6 a day for children enrolled in full-day and part-day care.

Other information

The Government of Ontario’s Childcare Tax Credit allows eligible families to claim up to 75% of your eligible child care expenses. This includes services provided by child care centres, homes and camps.

You will be able to claim this tax credit when you file your 2019 personal income tax return in 2020.
