Rain Barrel Program

Description:

  • Rain barrels make an excellent addition to schoolyard gardens and are an educational tool for learning about water conservation.  Rain barrels constructed by ecoCaledon (an environmental organization) are made from food grade barrels (previously used for olives) that have been diverted from landfill. ecoCaledon has retrofitted these barrels to have a larger capacity and improved rainwater intake. Rainwater collected in these rain barrels can be used for gardening needs on your school grounds. This action will help conserve our drinking water supply. 

    Rain barrels may be purchased from April-October for $50 at the following locations in Caledon:

    • Bolton Recycling Centre
    • Davis Feed and Farm Supply
    • Riverdale Farm and Forest
