WHEREAS Section 11 of the Municipal Act, 2001, provides that an upper-tier municipality may pass by-laws respecting matters within its spheres of jurisdiction;

AND WHEREAS Highways, including parking and regulating traffic on highways are within the sphere of jurisdiction of the Regional Municipality of Peel;

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel on the 13th day of September, 2001 passed By-law 41-2001 to consolidate the by-laws that regulate traffic on roads under the jurisdiction of the Regional Municipality of Peel and which by-law is hereinafter referred to as "the traffic by-law";

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel has by resolution passed on the 9th day of December, 2004, authorized the enactment of a by-law to amend the traffic by-law with respect to implementing a heavy truck right and left turning movement restriction at the intersection of Regional Road 9 (King Street) and Regional Road 50 (Highway 50);

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel enacts as follows:

1. That Section 10 of the traffic by-law be amended to add the following subsection 10(3), as follows:

"10(3) When an official sign to that effect is displayed, no person shall turn a heavy truck in any intersection or portion of a highway set out in Schedule I to this by-law, Part 19, Column 1 and Column 2, proceeding in the direction set out in Column 3 of the said Part, in the direction set out in Column 4 of the said Part, during the times or days set out in Column 5 of the said Part."

2. That the traffic by-law be amended with respect to Schedule I thereof, to add Part 19, as shown in Schedule "A" attached hereto.
