Did you know? In Canada, 3 out of 5 children ages 6 to 11 have or have had cavities (tooth decay).
Untreated cavities may lead to pain, infection, difficulty eating and difficulty concentrating.
Children who get their teeth checked at least once a year can prevent cavities and gum disease.
Peel Public Health offers Free dental cleaning, check-ups, and treatment for children
Peel Public Health has a government-funded dental program that provides free dental cleaning and emergency dental services for children and youth 0-17 years.
Who is eligible?
Your household is automatically enrolled in the program if you or your child receives benefits through:
- Ontario Works
- Temporary Care Assistance
- Ontario Disability Support Program
- Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities
Children are eligible for the program if they:
- are 17 years of age and under
- live in Ontario
- be able to show financial hardship
Note: A dental screening may be needed to see if there is a clinical need
Healthy Smiles Ontario - Core
Healthy Smiles Ontario is a government-funded dental program that provides free dental cleaning, routine, and emergency dental services for children and youth 17 years old and under from low-income households.
