What Happens at the Hospital
Right after delivery
Right after your baby is born:
- His umbilical cord will be clamped and cut.
- He'll be placed skin-to-skin on Mom's chest
or abdomen or under a warmer to help keep
him warm.
- He'll be dried off and your health care provider
will begin checking his health.
Tests and procedures during your hospital stay
While you're in the hospital, healthcare providers will do these specific tests and procedures to check your new baby's health:
After leaving the hospital, be sure to take your baby for his first doctor's visit and regular check-ups. These visits let your doctor check he's healthy, growing and developing well.
