Intermediate disinfectant is for items that come in contact with nonintact skin or mucous membranes but do not penetrate them. |
High level disinfectant is for items that come in contact with nonintact skin or mucous membranes but do not penetrate them or for cleaning blood spills. |

Additional Notes:
- Area or equipment for disinfection must be cleaned with soap and water before being disinfected.
- A new bleach solution must be made fresh daily.
- Ensure bottles used for bleach solutions are labelled.
