Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor

Last fall we started construction on our new service hub and long-term care centre

The new Peel Manor will feature services and activities for seniors living in the community, a long-term care centre, and an adult day program. Construction on the new building is expected to be complete in 2021. The site will also host an exciting new park space, expected to be complete in 2022.

Peel Manor has been serving the community since 1898. What began as a house of refuge became a long-term care home for 177 people. The current building also hosts Adult Day Services and Meals on Wheels serving Brampton.

Our vision

The Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor is the heart of a vibrant, thriving neighbourhood that enhances the quality of life and supports the well-being of those who live and work in the Village, and the surrounding community.

Peel Regional Council approved the creation of a new service hub and long-term care centre to replace the existing Peel Manor building. The new Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor will be built beside the current building. This will allow people living in Peel Manor to move only once, instead of having to move them into a temporary home. Once complete, the current building will be taken down to make way for a new community park space that will be completed in 2022.

A new Peel Manor will include:

  • A service hub that will include health, social and community services. The services will be available to those living in the building and the surrounding neighbourhoods. We will work with the community and the Local Health Integration Network to decide what services will be part of the hub.
  • A long-term care centre that will be home to 177 people. The centre will be designed to provide the best possible care and quality of life for those living there. In addition to the Region of Peel’s exceptional clinical care model, the centre will incorporate the Butterfly Household Model of Care from Dementia Care Matters. This model is designed to provide people with dementia a space that feels like home, with care that reflects their need for emotional connection.
  • Adult Day Services with space for up to 90 participants. Adult Day Services provide people who have significant care needs a place to go during the day for social engagement and stimulating programming.

Construction has begun on the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor.

We have decommissioned the play equipment at Murray Street Park and installed construction fencing.

Murray Street Park will remain closed during construction. An upgraded portion of the park featuring a new play structure will re-open in late 2020 for the community to enjoy.

The construction area is separated by walls/fencing during the entire construction period in an effort to control noise and dust. All noisy work will comply with the City of Brampton by-laws. The bulk of the work will take place during the day.

If you have any questions or concerns about construction, please email us.

Over the past four years we have reached out to people who live in, work at, or visit Peel Manor, along with those who live in the surrounding neighbourhood. We have done this through meet-ups, information sessions, mailings, and door-to-door chats.

Our goal is to ensure the Seniors Health and Wellness Village at Peel Manor remains a valued part of the community.

We used the feedback throughout the planning phases of the building design. The final design reflects the voice of the community.

We will continue to reach out to the community throughout the construction and program planning.
