May is Museum Month, Celebrate at PAMA
Brampton, ON (April 30, 2019): Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is excited to usher in Museum Month with a great line-up of exhibitions, programs and a FREE admission weekend, May 18 - 19. Check out the new PAMA Spring/Summer Guide hot off the presses as well!

Zinnia Naqvi: Yours to Discover
May 2 – October 20
This large-scale outdoor photography-based exhibition explores the immigrant experience within the natural landmarks and built infrastructure of Canada. Presented in partnership with the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, City of Brampton and Friends of PAMA.
- Reception and Artist Talk Sunday, May 19, 2 – 4 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
Selections from the Vault - Series II
May 18 – August 18
This rotating display of specially selected works from deep within PAMA’s own vault includes landscape, portraiture, photography, Inuit, and abstract art.
- Talk & Sketch Sessions
Sundays, May 5 (Landscapes), 2 - 3:30 p.m.
Public: $10 (includes general admission). Member: $8.50. Pre-registration is required.

- Diversity & Fashion: Your Brand, Your Identity
Thursday, May 2, 6 - 8:30 p.m. Fashion, faith and style converge in the Canadian premiere exhibition of Karan Kaur: The Style of Life. Join her for light refreshments and an opportunity talk with her one-on-one. Followed by conversation on how to balance your brand and cultural identity on social media with Karan Kaur of stylewithkaur and local guests: Jalen Nelson of lickmyfashion, Liz Chow of staygorgeouslc, and Sasha of flawsofcouture. Includes general admission, pre-registration is required.
- Brampton Folk Concerts: Spotlight on Stories
Thursday, May 9, 7 - 8:30 p.m. Includes general admission.
- Phulkari Embroidery Workshop
Saturday, May 11, 1 - 4 p.m. Explore the intricacy and beauty of Phulkari, a form of ancient embroidery, facilitated by Oakville's Rafia Shafiq. Each student will leave the workshop with their own embroidery piece, learn the history of the lost technique and enjoy an afternoon of tea and sweets.
Public: $35 (includes general admission). Member: $29.75. Pre-registration is required.
- Peel Aboriginal Network (PAN) Drumming Circle
Thursdays, May 16, 7 - 8:30 p.m. Free program which does not include general admission.

- Pretty Dangerous: Women’s Self Defense Workshop
Sunday, May 26, 1:30 – 3 p.m. Pretty Dangerous is a women's self-defence program created by Asiatic Sifu which focuses on teaching simple and effective techniques to confidently protect yourself against violent attackers.
Public: $35 (includes general admission). Member: $29.75. Pre-registration is required.
