Region of Peel announces Peter Parsan as Director of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer
Brampton, ON. (November 23, 2022) – The Region of Peel announced today that Peter Parsan has been appointed to the position of Director of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer.
Peter has extensive experience leading Information Technology (IT) strategy within the Public Sector and has been providing excellent leadership in advancing the Region’s digital strategy. He has been serving in the capacity of Acting CIO and Director, Information Technology since March 2022 and will continue to lead the IT Division in a permanent capacity.
Reporting to the CFO and Commissioner of Corporate Services, Peter is responsible for leading the development and execution of the enterprise-wide Information Technology strategy that will ensure the implementation of innovative Information Technology solutions to support the Region’s goals and objectives.
In this role, he will also be responsible for leading the modernization and optimization of the organization's Information Technology processes and tools, protecting the organization from cybersecurity risks and threats, and ensuring that the corporation has the appropriate, future-oriented technology solutions in place to deliver strong business outcomes.
Peter joined the Region in 2019 as the Director, IT Solutions responsible for the design, development, and delivery of IT solutions in alignment with the Region’s strategic objectives and digital strategy.
Prior to joining the Region, Peter has an extensive record of service and leadership experience in the broader public sector; including over 15 years spent in progressive leadership roles at Sick Kids Hospital in the areas of both Finance and Information Technology.
Peter is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP; AICPA), and a Project Management Professional (PMP). He is a graduate of the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Commerce); and has also served there as Adjunct Lecturer at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.
Peter's extensive knowledge and expertise in developing Information Technology solutions and advancing Digital Strategy will continue to be invaluable to the Region as we work to transform our technology systems to better serve residents and deliver a Community for Life!
