Public Notice

On Thursday, December 17, 2020, the Council of the Regional Municipality of Peel will hold a public meeting pursuant to the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, for the purpose of obtaining input from the public on a proposed by-law to change the composition of Regional Council. The proposed by-law would:

  1. change the number of members that represent the City of Brampton and the Town of Caledon on Regional Council by increasing the number representing Brampton by 2 for a total of 9 members and decreasing the number representing Caledon by 2 for a total of 3 members to be effective for the municipal election to be held in October 2022; and,
  2. provide for the manner of selecting the additional two members to represent Brampton* and for the manner of selecting the three members to represent Caledon.

* In a resolution adopted on November 25, 2020 the Council of the City of Brampton resolved as its position that the 2 additional members representing Brampton be selected by the Brampton City Council from among City Councillors to represent Brampton on Regional Council for a four-year term.

Due to the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 there will be limited public access to the Council Chambers. Pre-registration is required by emailing the Office of the Regional Clerk. The meeting will be live streamed on www.peelregion.ca.
