Liveable Peel Objectives
The following five objectives set the policy framework for Liveable Peel.

To manage the impacts of growth and affect change.
One of the main challenges facing Peel is a rapidly growing and changing population. To ensure that Regional programs and services continue to meet the needs of the community, the Region is conducting research and analyzing the factors which influence population growth and change* as they relate to the demands for services. Some of the factors include an aging population, immigration, housing, health, infrastructure, labour, intensification and safety.

To achieve a sustainable land use and transportation system.
The Region of Peel promotes an efficient and sustainable land use pattern. Liveable Peel strategies include developing partnerships with all levels of government and working with industry partners to create an accessible, affordable and integrated transportation system while also improving goods movement throughout the Region. In addition, Peel is undertaking comprehensive long-term transportation planning to proactively meet future transportation needs.

To balance the demands of social, economic, environmental and cultural interests.
The Region of Peel advocates, plans and delivers programs to ensure that the changing needs of the population continue to be met, while supporting the regional economy through strategic investment in infrastructure and human services. Liveable Peel aims to conserve Peel’s agricultural and natural resources while providing for growth and protecting significant natural features and environmentally sensitive areas.

To increase recognition and support of long-term planning.
Liveable Peel is unique for increasing the recognition and support of long-term, Regional planning by seeking political and public support. The Region supports corporate thinking that values and invests in long-term planning. Resources to advance Liveable Peel will be secured through building internal and external support.

To capitalize on community capacity and stakeholder involvement.
Liveable Peel capitalizes on community capacity and stakeholder involvement. This objective is now underway by developing a corporate community development strategy which includes strengthening relationships with diverse communities, as well as developing an education and outreach strategy on long-term community development.
