Growth Management Strategy

The Region has adopted an integrated approach to planning, managing and financing growth, known as the Growth Management Program. The Growth Management Program has an outcome focused on achieving a financially sustainable complete community, where the location and servicing of growth is optimized. This outcome is achieved through four key strategies:

  • Internal and external collaboration
  • Managing revenues and expenditures
  • Planning and managing the location and servicing of growth
  • Leveraging business intelligence

This integrated approach has resulted in a comprehensive framework that includes Official Plan Updates (Growth Management and Transportation), water and wastewater planning and servicing, and financial and policy inputs to the development charge by-law. Regional Council received the Peel Growth Management Program and Development Charge Performance – 2019 Overview and Progress Report on April 23, 2020. This report provides an update on the Growth Management Program, including progress towards the outcome and each strategy. An overview of the Region's growth trends and development charges performance informing our growth-related infrastructure financing decisions is also included.
