Watermain, sanitary sewer replacement, road repairs and resurfacing

Notice for loading/unloading, deliveries to businesses – Queen Street West

The Region of Peel has been working in your neighborhood to replace the aging watermain and sanitary sewer along Queen Street. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water and wastewater services.

At this stage in the project, the Region of Peel will be replacing the watermain under Queen Street West.

Traffic impacts

Temporary lane closures will be required to do this work, as the contractor will need to occupy the two middle lanes of Queen Street West.

Therefore, Queen Street West will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Chapel Street and Mill Street South, as illustrated in the diagram below. This work will continue from Chapel Street and Queen Street West and move west along Queen Street. This temporary lane closure will begin the week of September 6, 2022, and will last for approximately three months, depending on weather and soil conditions.

Parking impacts

On-street parking will be removed and converted into through traffic lanes. To provide an alternative parking location, parking garages in the area can used be free of charge. There are five parking garages: Nelson Square, Market Square, West Tower, City Hall and John Street Garage. For their locations, see the map on the following page.
