Advance notice of forcemain construction

Watersedge Rd., Country Club Cres., Meadow Wood Rd., Orr Rd. Project 15-2905

What we are doing

As part of the State of Good Repairs Program, the Region of Peel is planning to replace the existing forcemain from a sewage pumping station located at 1650 Watersedge Rd. The existing forcemain is more than 50 years old and currently runs through Meadowood Park and underneath Bradley’s Museum. The forcemain could not be rehabilitated or replaced at its current location. (View proposed alignment for the new forcemain (PDF))

The Region will be constructing a new forcemain on your street starting in early 2020. Because of this, you may wish to delay any major landscaping or driveway work you have planned until after the work is finished. Construction work will take approximately 10 months.

A forcemain is a pressurized sewer pipe that carries wastewater from a pumping station to a discharge point. The proposed forcemain will start from an existing sewage pumping station located at 1650 Watersedge Rd. and discharge to a maintenance hole on Orr Rd.

In the meantime, you may notice the following activities in your neighbourhood:

  1. We will mark the location of gas, hydro, cable, etc. on roads, driveways and lawns with temporary spray paint.
  2. We may drill boreholes to determine ground conditions.
  3. We may survey your street.
  4. We will take pictures to help us make sure we restore the area to its former condition.

Keeping you informed

We are currently in the early design stages, so we cannot provide you with exact dates when we will be on site to complete the work. A public meeting will be held in the Fall of 2019 to show the community detailed construction plans. We will try to minimize impacts to traffic. Advance notice of this public meeting will be provided closer to the date.

We will deliver more detailed information to your home through future notices closer to the proposed construction date.
